I conceived of, wrote, produced and raised the funding from outside of the Federal government for this 24-page magazine. More than 100 people in many different Federal and State agencies were involved in the review process. The magazine was printed in English, Spanish, Chinese and Braille and distributed in 41 newspapers throughout northern California. A total of 3,300,000 copes were distributed in 1990, following the Loma Prieta earthquake.

For this effort I received the Public Affairs Award of the Department of Interior, the highest award of the National Association of Government Communicators, and was a Finalist for Federal Employee of the Year Award in 1991.
